The North - NW REM launched in December 2007 a public consultation on how to improve functioning of primary capacity markets at the Interconection Points (IP) of Obergailbach / Medelsheim and Blaregnies / Taisnières.

The SG was held on the 24th of October and was attended by 30% stakeholders, 30% operators and 30% others (ministries, regulators, consultants).  All latest information on all priorities can best be found on the content list of the SG:

The North West region works with very active operator groups, but is still relying on more stakeholders to join the process and to put in their views on the markets. Regularly meetings are being organized but organizations are also invited to take place in Enabler groups to work on making progress in the priorities they favor.

List of priorities in the region (see also the "key achievments so far")

  1. BALANCING: prevent balancing being impediment to cross border trade;
  2. TRANSPARENCY: get the right amount of information available to allow efficient market; 
  3. Interconnections
    PRIMARY CAPACITY: maximize capacity at interconnection points to increase cross border trade;
    SECONDARY CAPACITY
    (currently focus on DAY AHEAD CAPACITY AUCTIONS): to solve contractual congestion and give shippers additional access to surplus capacity;
  4. HUBS: use hubs as indicator of our success and extra push per hub on specific issues.
  5. Investment
  6. REGULATORY COORDINATION: to achieve better coordinate between regulators on regional issues;
